Introduction
When emergencies happen in Scotland, a range of well‑practiced, flexible and adaptable arrangements are put in place to respond. These arrangements bring together emergency services, local authorities and other public bodies, volunteers, and communities.
In line with world-wide good practice, the approach to emergency preparedness in Scotland is based on the principles of “Integrated Emergency Management”. This enables us to respond to disruption caused by emergencies of any type, foreseen or unforeseen.
This module looks at how the Scottish approach works. It introduces you to the different organisations who work together and explains their legal responsibilities for emergency management.
